robthill’s posterous

John Johnston

I have just come across the news that John has a new job as ICT Development Officer in North Lanarkshire.  It is not at all surprising as John must be one of the most quoted and respected in-school practitioners in the country.  I know that I must quote him as an example at least once a week.  I have always been baffled to know how he achieves so much given the very limit resources of time and equipment that he has had in Sandaig Primary but one look at the site is enough to inspire anyone.  If you have not already done so look at the cluster maps at the bottom of the page.

Flowgram Maker

I have just been experimenting with Flowgram as recommended in Jane's Picks  It's not as easy as the demos would have you believe and at the moment the audio is terrible.  Still it does seem to be a quick way of showing web pages etc and adding test and speech so I will persevere.

Drupal Set Up

Well, I am still not settled in how I will use posterous as I am floundering around trying to get a new website to run.  I created on my Windows XP machine at home using a server simulation called wamp.  Now I am trying to get it to work on the live site.  I am having problems reconfiguring the mysql database but am going to leave it to a fresh start in the morning.

Repeat for the benefit of twitter

I am still not exactly certain of how I will use posterous as my other blog at Questions and Reflections as its name implies is more ponderous than instantaneous.
However I note today that David Muir has been at ECER08 conceference where he mentions collaboration as an important element of the project under discussion.
Meanwhile I am waiting on other people before pulling the threads together in an attempt to get collaboration going across different local authorities in Glow.  I certainly think that from a teacher's perspective, collaboration should be a very important part of this Scottish schools intranet.

However of immediate concern is an attempt to upload a Drupal 5 installation from a local host to a live site.  The more I read the suggestions and guides the more daunted I am.

The New Way to Blog

This might well be better than Wordpress and more efficient than Twitter
